Department: Transition courses are designed for incoming 9th grade students that need additional support or course work in order to be successful at the high school level. These classes are offered at each campus, students should register with the School’s Cashier for sections offered at their home school.

Prerequisite: 8th Grade Placement
In this course students will develop reading comprehension skills in preparation for the reading demands of the 9th grade. Throughout the course students will read both nonfiction selections and novels. They will learn strategies for key reading tasks such as determining the main idea, finding the supporting details, and understanding unfamiliar vocabulary
