Prerequisite: Passing grade in eight or more courses during the previous two semesters; successful completion of permit and vision examinations
Age Requirements: 15 years of age by 1st day of class for the semester
Fees: $150 course fee and $20 permit fee made payable to the Secretary of State

The Driver Education Program is an integrated two-phase program which consists of classroom and behind the wheel (BTW – street driving). D230’s requirements exceed the requirements set by the State of Illinois and ensure a safe and secure learning experience for students learning to drive.
Students must pass both the classroom and driving phases in order to be eligible to obtain their driver’s license. They must also attend a minimum of thirty (30) hours of classroom instruction and drive for a total of six (6) hours of behind-the-wheel (BTW) instruction. State law also requires each student to complete fifty (50) hours of practice driving with an adult, outside of the class, to qualify for an Illinois license. Ten (10) of those hours must be completed during night driving conditions. These fifty (50) hours must be documented on the student driver log sheet.
