Students study the child from conception to age six in the area of development: physical, cognitive, language, social and emotional. The psychological theories of Piaget, Erickson, etc., are analyzed and the child care theories of Spock, Brazelton, Frieberg, Gazselle, etc., are examined. Students apply classroom theory through teaching and observation in the preschool setting.
